Founded in 1962, Serum International actually began as an importer of medical and hospital supplies. While visiting Germany in 1968, the owners purchased some Birkenstock sandals. The unique comfort and health features of these sandals prompted them to acquire the distribution rights for Birkenstock in Canada.

Serum International offers the complete range of Birkenstock products as well as Tatami, Newalk, Papillio, Birki's, Birki kids, Birko, Birkenstock Comfort Shoes, FP by Birkenstock and Alpro lines. Birkenstock alone has over 200 different styles available in two widths. Serum International also distributes Birkenstock orthopedic products, including the much acclaimed blue footbed support. Serum International is also proud to offer two other extraordinary brands: Finn Comfort, handcrafted in Bavaria, and Think! unique footwear products from Austria.

In 2001, Serum International expanded its operations with the construction of a 50,000 square foot distribution center in Laval, Quebec. The state-of-the-art facility also houses the administrative offices and showrooms. This expansion has allowed Serum International to better serve its customers by further increasing its already extensive inventory and extending its shipping capabilities.
